We created a digital first approach for health recruitment utilising the best in market strategies for Western Health.


Western Health manages four acute public hospitals: Sunshine Hospital (including Joan Kirner Women’s and Children’s), Footscray Hospital, Williamstown Hospital and Bacchus Marsh. Western Health provides a comprehensive, integrated range of clinical services from their various sites ranging from acute tertiary services in areas of emergency medicine, intensive care, medical and surgical services, through to subacute care and onsite and virtual ambulatory clinics.

The Challenge

The recruitment portal for Western Health was not generating an adequate number of applications. Ease of use and ineffective advertisement of job opportunities were identified as causes. Western Health wanted to increase the recruitment of staff for their emergency and midwifery departments during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Solution

This strategy included traditional and digital advertising. A large billboard on the Western Ring Road was matched with Facebook, LinkedIn & Google. A targeted approach was employed via career platforms such as Seek and Indeed.

In the video campaign, TAG collaborated with Gold Logie winner Samuel Johnson OBE to create a recruitment campaign video that emotionally cut through to applicants.
